Each year the East Riding of Yorkshire Council give an award known as the chairman’s award to a person who has made a special contribution to the social well being of the county.

Eric Billany, a Welwick resident all of his life, received this years award for his work in raising money for charity. He and his helpers, including his wife Mavis and close friend Keith Grantham, have raised in excess of £50,000 over the years from their auctions in Welwick.
